**Salary:** $98,775 – $117,290 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

The School of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking to expand and diversify its expertise in mathematical physics. The School has had a long history of a strong research program in mathematical physics including mathematical statistical mechanics, integrable models, random matrix theory, conformal field theory and physical combinatorics. The School is looking to strengthen its expertise in areas related but not limited to non-perturbative quantum field theory, quantum symmetries, mathematical aspects of string theory or strongly correlated quantum systems.

The School maintains activity in all areas of the mathematical sciences. It has research foci in algebra, analysis, geometry, topology, number theory, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, discrete mathematics, operations research, statistics, statistical genomics, stochastic modelling and probability theory.

The successful applicant is expected to lead a vigorous research program in mathematical physics, should have a strong commitment to teaching in the Undergraduate and Masters programs, as well as to the supervision of Masters and PhD level research students. The University of Melbourne provides a wide range of opportunities for research collaborations within the School and the Faculty of Science. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake some administrative tasks for the School.
